David Jeffreys – Managing Director
David has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Systems from the University of Limerick and 14 years of experience in the IT and Software industry.
Before and during University, David worked in various IT and software related positions, the most noteworthy being the development of the test software for the first entirely Irish designed and manufactured computer which was targeted at the US Education Sector.
After graduation David spent three years working as a software developer for an International Communications Company (Datamate Global Communications Ltd.) where his time was divided between the Irish (Limerick) and US (Los Angeles) offices. During this time, he worked with John Savage on products aimed at the entertainment industry. One of these being a secure instant messaging platform for Talent Agencies in Hollywood, Los Angeles. Amongst their clients is Universal Music Group.
Before establishing Action Point, David spent a year working as the IT Manager in Copytype Ireland Ltd (Limerick) where he was responsible for IT consultancy with their clients, and spearheaded the implementation of a software system for the management of Copytype’s services business.
David left Copytype in 2005 to establish Action Point Software Ltd. with John Savage.
John Savage – Technical Director
John graduated from Computer Systems with a First Class Honours degree and was the third person in the university’s history to graduate with a perfect QCA of 4.0, winning the Graduate Gold Medal for best university graduate in 2001. He was awarded the Intel scholarship for final year engineering students in 2000. His final year project, titled OpenVR, won a number of college level awards (QAD Best Designed FYP and Accenture’s Most Commercially Viable FYP). After graduation, OpenVR went on to win the national Hewlett Packard Award, which is open to all final year engineering students nationwide, and OpenVR was demonstrated and presented at Media Lab Europe in 2001 and the PRESENCE conference in Brussels in 2002.
After graduation, John travelled to Los Angeles to work on the development of an enterprise level Instant Messaging application for use in the entertainment industry. This job was a direct follow-on from his cooperative work placement in 1999. Over the four years in LA, John grew from entry level developer to eventual project manager. The final product, IMiN, was released to industry acclaim, being nominated for the XChange Tech Innovators - Best Software Solution Award in 2005.
After 4 years in Los Angeles, John returned to Ireland and co-founded Action Point Software with his fellow UL graduate, David Jeffreys.
Jonathan Deane – IT Services Director
Jonathan Deane attended the University of Limerick from 1998 to 2002 where he studied computer systems. After University Jonathan joined A-Tech Computers as a systems engineer, and was soon promoted to the role Service Manager, a position which he held for 2 years before leaving to join South Western Services (SWS).
Jonathan’s role in SWS involved implementing and administering large scale government and corporate outsourced IT environments, examples being the Government Penalty Points System and the National Calf Registration Service, along with the newspaper distribution service for Independent News and Media.
Jonathan is a MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer), a VCP (VMWare Certified Professional), a CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate), and a CCA (Citrix Certified Administrator) and has more than 12 years IT experience.
Jonathan joined Action Point in 2006 where he assumed the role of IT Services Director.
Ger O’Mahony – Commercial Director
Ger trained as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG in Ireland and subsequently worked overseas for two and a half years with their international associates KPMG Peat Marwick in the West Indies. Ger's career initially focused on the Food, Tourism and Technology industry sectors including work with U.S. multinational NorthStar Computers, Waterford Foods (now Glanbia) and a number of Technology companies. His role in these businesses was focused primarily on three areas which were firstly Business Strategy and Corporate Finance, secondly Financial and Commercial Director responsibilities and lastly the management and motivation of company employees.
In the Technology area this comprised co-founding a number of EI supported technology-related businesses including the subsequent sale of two of these, namely the Bridgecom Group to Esat Telecom and the Engage Technologies Group to Northgate HR (a FTSE 250 company). Both of these companies had significant revenues from international operations and Ger was instrumental in particular in selling and licensing software and services for these businesses into the UK marketplace.
Ger took up the role as Commercial Director in Action Point in 2010.
