As a result of Covid-19, day to day operations in business have seen a huge and necessary change, with many companies taking their businesses online and asking their workforce to work from home. In what is a testament to Irish businesses, the transition from on- site to remote working has proven how adaptable they can be under pressure and in times of uncertainty. Although remote working policies were not prioritised in many cases prior to Covid-19, the resilience of SMEs to work at normal capacity as best as possible is something to be admired.
But how has this shift to working in home environment impacted the workforce? From reduced commute times, schedule flexibility and increased productivity, many employees feel the benefits of a home office, leading to questions of how best to navigate a new work environment defined as a “hybrid workplace”. With a rise in the popularity of a home office, we look at what measures businesses are taking to ensure their data is protected online and if there are substantial cyber security policies in place.
